Did you know?
The perirhinal cortex is a cortical region in the medial temporal lobe that is made up of Brodmann areas 35 and 36. It receives highly processed sensory information from all sensory regions, and is generally accepted to be an important region for memory. It is bordered caudally by postrhinal cortex or parahippocampal cortex (homologous regions in rodents and primates, respectively) and ventrally and medially by entorhinal cortex. Web1. mar 2006 · Quantitative structural changes, including hippocampal atrophy and temporal pole blurring, are present in both MRI-positive and MRI-negative HS patients, suggesting …
WebImportantly, atrophy of the medial perirhinal cortex, but not lateral perirhinal cortex, entorhinal cortex or hippocampus, significantly predicted naming performance on living relative to non-living things. These results support a hierarchical account of object processing, whereby the perirhinal cortex at the apex of the ventral object ... WebNCIs in the perirhinal cortex showed intense argyrophilia with the Campbell-Switzer silver impregnation method, but not argyrophilic with the Gallyas method. Most neuronal alpha-synuclein aggregates in dendrosomatic fraction formed globular/tadpole-like, and ultrastructurally comprised granular-coated fine fibrils 12–24 nm in diameter. Web21. júl 2024 · This neurodegeneration results in atrophy that can be measured using structural MRI 3 and a reduction in metabolism of [ 18 F]fluoro-deoxyglucose (FDG) in PET imaging 4. Webatrophy in perirhinal cortex correlated with the severity of im-paired semantic knowledge may be understood by supposing that the extent of damage in many temporal lobe areas is intercorre-lated in this progressive disease, and that the extent of atrophy in perirhinal cortex is a proxy for the overall severity of dementia.
